4Modification Overview
- The 825YA has angled inlet and outlet valves.
- The 825YR has replaceable check seats.
- The 825YS has silicone rubber parts.
- The 805Y was discontinued in 2003.
- The 805YB is still used as a bypass assembly for
certain models of DCDA.
5Check Cover Removal
- Cover is threaded into body and o-ring sealed.
- Cover is spring loaded.
- Loosen cover with wrench, then remove by hand
while holding tightly against spring pressure.
6Check Valve Removal
- Poppet style check valve.
- The poppet and spring are free once the cover is
removed.
7Check Seat Removal
- Earlier models of the 825Y do not have
replaceable seats. - Current models that start with a J serial
have replaceable seats. - 825YR has replaceable seats.
- Seats are threaded and o-ring sealed.
8Check Disc Replacement
- Remove screw and disc washer from poppet.
9Check Valve Reassembly Notes
- Inspect and clean the guide bore on the cover.
- The stem must move freely in the guide bore.
- Reassemble in reverse order.
10RV Cover Removal
- RV cover is sealed by the diaphragm.
- Spring load is contained.
- Carefully remove sensing port bushing.
11RV Module Removal
- Module is o-ring sealed.
- Pull module straight out of body.
12RV Seat Removal
- Replaceable RV seats only standard on units
manufacturer after 1988. - RV seat is threaded and o-ring sealed.
- Loosen the allen bolts and remove RV body.
- Remove discharge shield.
- Use socket or pliers to unscrew.
13RV Seat Replacement Notes
- Reassemble in reverse order.
- Make sure port bushings and discharge shield is
in place. - Lubricate o-rings.
14RV Disc Replacement
- Remove screw, disc washer, and disc.
15Disassemble RV Module
- Module is spring loaded.
- Hold module firmly and remove button screw.
16Disassemble RV Module
- Push the main stem through the guide.
- Remove the main stem o-ring.
17RV Reassembly Notes
- Reassemble in reverse order.
- Lubricate the guide
- o-ring.
- Push the RV module straight into body.
18RV Reassembly Notes
- Make sure sensing port bushing is in place.
- Position the diaphragm on the cover and tighten
bolts.

- 805Y- (1973-1988) Cast Iron body- Threaded in
seats- Internal check parts are epoxy coated
iron. - 805YD- (1988-present) Ductile iron body- Bolted
in seats- Internal check parts are stainless
steel. - 825- (1975-1988) Cast iron body- Threaded in
seats- Internal check parts are epoxy coated
iron. Old style RV. - 825D- (1988-1989) Ductile iron body- Bolted in
seats- Internal check parts are stainless steel.
Old style RV. - 825YD- (1989-present) Ductile iron body- bolted
in seats- Internal check parts are stainless
steel. New style RV.
21Check Cover Removal
- Cover is o-ring sealed.
- 21/2-3 cover is spring loaded.
- Hold cover firmly while removing bolts.
- 4-10 Loosen bolts ½. Spring load is now
released from the cover and retained by the check
assembly. - Verify spring load before removing all the
bolts.
22Check Valve Removal
- Center stem guided check assembly.
- 21/2-3 spring, stem, and disc holder are free
once cover is removed. - 4-10 disc spring subassembly.
- Slide subassembly straight out of seat and body.
23Check Seat Removal
- Seats are o-ring sealed and bolted into the body.
- Remove bolts and pull seat straight out of body.
- Inspect the plastic guide bushing in center of
seat.
24Check Disc Replacement
- Un-thread nut on stem and remove disc retainer.
- For model (825) spring tension may have to
be released to replace disc. Consult service
center.
25Check Valve Reassembly Notes
- Reassemble in reverse order.
- Apply lubricant to o-rings.
- 21/2-3 Models- inspect and clean the plastic
guide in the check cover.
26RV Cover Removal
- Remove external sensing line.
- RV cover is sealed by the diaphragm.
- No spring load on cover.
- Remove outer diaphragm.
27RV Module Removal
- Module is o-ring sealed.
- Pull module straight out of body.
- Grasp the module (button) with one hand and
insert fingers (other hand) into RV port and
apply force to the seat disc. - Do not twist module.
28RV Seat Removal
- RV seat is mounted between the RV housing and the
RV adapter. - Remove the 4 bolts on the adapter and remove
housing. - Seat is o-ring sealed.
- Pull the seat straight out.
29Disassemble RV Module
- Place the module on a flat surface with lower
guide facing up. - Hold the main stem with one hand and unscrew the
lower guide.
30Disassemble RV Module
- With lower guide removed, place the module upside
down on a clean surface. - Remove center of protective sticker (Save).
- Hold the button firmly and loosen screw.
- Button is spring loaded.
31Disassemble RV Module
- Remove main stem and unthread the retainer.
- Remove slip ring and inner diaphragm.
32Inner Diaphragm Replacement
- Position the bead of the inner diaphragm into the
groove of the upper guide. - Place slip ring over the diaphragm.
- Thread retainer ring onto upper guide (hand
tight).
33Main Stem Replacement
- Push the inner diaphragm back through the upper
guide assembly. - Insert main stem inside diaphragm.
- The screw hole on diaphragm and main stem should
be lined up.
34Spring / Button Replacement
- Place the spring over the upper guide assembly.
- Place button on spring and hold down firmly.
- Replace button screw.
- Reposition center label piece.
35RV Disc Replacement
- Replace the RV disc in main stem.
- Replace the disc washer and lower stem guide.
- Replace and lubricate o-ring on main guide
36RV Reassembly Notes
- Reassemble RV in reverse order.
- Push the RV module straight into body.
- Do not twist.
- Replace outer diaphragm with fabric side against
button. - Work the rolled edge into the space between the
module and body.

38Modification Overview
- Production began in 2000.
- 4-6 sizes only.
- Production stopped in 2006.
39Single Access Cover Removal
- Cover is o-ring sealed.
- Cover has no spring load.
40Check Valve Removal
- Check valve modules.
- Modules sealed by o-ring and secured by a
retainer. - Slide retainer and flow insert straight out of
body.
41Check Valve Removal
- Remove the first check by sliding the module down
stream. - Remove the second check by using a screwdriver
flat to free the module from the body.
42Disassemble Check Valve
- Hold the module firmly with the disc retainer
cone facing up. - Using a large flat head screwdriver, unscrew the
retainer counter clockwise.
43Disassemble Check Valve
- Turn the module over.
- Module is spring loaded Hold firmly.
- Use an 1/8 allen wrench to remove the socket
head cap screws.
44Check Seat Inspection
- The check seat is free once the module is
disassembled.
45Check Disc Replacement
- The disc holder and disc are free once the module
is disassembled.
46 Check Valve Reassembly Notes
- Reassemble in reverse order.
- Apply lubricant to seat o-ring.

48Check Cover Removal
- Check cover is bolted and o-ring sealed.
- There is no spring load on the cover.
49Check Valve Removal
- Check valve modules.
- Modules are o-ring sealed and secured by a
retainer. - Check 1 must be removed before 2.
- Slide retainer straight out of body.
- The checks can now be removed by hand or with a
screw driver flat.
50 Disassemble Check Module
- Module is spring loaded.
- Firmly grasp the seat section in one hand and the
guide section in the other hand. - Rotate counter clockwise until the two parts
disengage. (approx.1/8 turn)
51Check Seat Removal
- Check seats are part of each check module.
- If the seat is damaged, then the entire module
must be replaced.
52Check Disc Replacement
- Remove retaining screw and disc retainer.
53Check Valve Reassembly Notes
- Reassemble in reverse order.
- Lubricate o-rings.
- When replacing check retainer, be sure that the
flanged end of the retainer is touching the back
side of the 1 check assembly. - Replace cover with 3 test cock on the upstream
side.
54RV Cover Removal
- Cover is sealed by the diaphragm.
- Loosen brass cylinder in center of RV cover. (1/4
turn) counter clockwise. - There is a slight spring load on the cover.
- Hold cover while removing the cover bolts.
55RV Module Removal
- The RV module will be attached to the cover.
56RV Seat Removal
- The RV seat is sealed by a gasket.
- Simply slide the seat out of body.
57Disassemble RV Module
- Remove the brass cylinder from the cover.
- Grasp the outer diaphragm and pull away from
cover until the small diaphragm comes out through
the hole in the cover completely. - Remove the two slip rings from cover.
58Disassemble RV Module
- Unscrew the module by holding the stem retainer
with a wrench and the disc guide with the other
hand.
59RV Rubber Replacement
- The diaphragm and seat disc are free once the
stem is disassembled. - Reassemble rubber in reverse order.
60RV Seat Replacement
- Apply lubricant to both sides of the seat gasket.
This will help hold it in place. - Insert the short end of the seat ring in the vent
opening. - The lubricant will help hold the seat in
place.
61RV Module Reassembly
- Apply lubricant to both sides of one slip ring
and insert it in the top of the RV cover. - Form the small diaphragm into a tulip shape.
62RV Module Reassembly
- Insert the small diaphragm end of the module
through the hole in the cover. - Form the small diaphragm so that it lays flat in
the top of the cover.
63RV Module Reassembly
- Apply lubricant to both sides of the second slip
ring and insert on top of small diaphragm. - Thread the brass cylinder into the RV cover.
(hand tight)
64RV Module Reassembly
- Form the large diaphragm so that the bead is
properly seated in the bore of the RV cover.
65RV Module Reassembly
- Position the spring over the guide on the RV
module. - Check to make sure the sensing line o-ring is in
place.
66RV Reassembly Notes
- Once cover is bolted and secure, tighten the
brass cylinder.

68Check Cover Removal
- Cover is bolted and o-ring sealed.
- There is a slight spring load on cover.
69 Disassemble Spring Module
- The spring module is held in position by the
cover. - Spring module is captured.
- Remove the retaining clip and hinge pin from the
arm assembly.
70Check Disc Replacement
- The check disc is a vulcanized clapper plate.
- Remove jam nut and washer from the back of the
disc plate. - When jam nut is tight, check disc is
designed to wobble.
71Check Seat Removal
- The seat and arm must be removed as one piece.
- The seat and arm assembly is bolted through the
body and sealed by a gasket.
72Check Seat Removal
- Locate and remove the four lock nuts on the
outside of the body. - Pull the seat and arm assembly straight out of
the body.
73Disassemble Seat Assembly
- Remove retaining clip and hinge pin from arm
assembly. - Inspect bushings and hinge pins for wear.
74Check Valve Reassembly Notes
- Reassemble in reverse order.
- The seat assembly, disc plate, and spring module
can be assembled together and placed into the
body as one component. - The seat ring will only fit into body one way,
check the alignment of gasket and studs.
75Check Valve Reassembly Notes
- The spring module is positioned by the cover.
- Make sure the pivot bearing is resting in the
pivot socket on the cover.
76RV Cover Removal
- Remove external sensing line.
- RV cover is sealed by the diaphragm.
- No spring load on cover.
- Remove outer diaphragm.
77RV Module Removal
- Module is o-ring sealed.
- Pull module straight out of body.
- Grasp the module (button) with one hand and

- Place button on spring and hold down firmly.
- Replace flow screw.
- Reposition center label piece.
85RV Disc Replacement
- Replace the RV disc in main stem.
- Replace the lower stem guide.
- Replace and lubricate o-ring on main guide
86RV Reassembly Notes
- Reassemble RV in reverse order.
- Push the RV module straight into body.
- Do not twist.
- Replace outer diaphragm with fabric side against
button. - Work the rolled edge into the space between the
module and body.
