• Johann Gottfried Galle Louis dArrest were the
  first to explore Neptune on September 23rd, 1846.
  Stephen Synnot discovered Larissa, a moon.

• This is the symbol of Neptune

Other Characteristics

• Neptune is famous for its Great Dark Spot. Its
  not as famous as Jupiters Great Red Spot. The
  Great Dark Spot is not nearly as big as the
  Great Red Spot. The Great Red Spot can hold
  300 Earths, while the Great Dark Spot can only
  hold 14.

Temperature

• The temperature of Neptune is very cold. The
  temperature is 346º Fbelow 0!

Atmosphere

• There are three layers of the atmosphere on
  Neptune. They are hydrogen, helium and methane.

Moons

• Neptune has thirteen moons. Here are eight
  examples Naiad, Thalassa, Despina, Galatea,
  Larissa, Proteus, Triton and Nereid.
• The main moons are Nereid, Proteus and Triton.

Distance From the Sun and Diameter

• Neptune is 2.8 billion miles from the Sun.
• Pluto isnt a planet anymore, so Neptune is the
  farthest from the Sun. When Pluto was a planet,
  at one point for 20 years, Plutos orbit would
  cross over Neptunes so Neptune would be the
  farthest from the Sun.

• Neptunes diameter is around 50,000 miles. It is
  the 4th largest planet.

Exploration

• In August 1989, the Voyager 2 landed on Neptune.
• On August 20th, 1977, the Voyager 2 was launched.
