Which water should we drink?

• From the tap?
• From the stream?

How can we figure this out?

• Test for nitrate-ions
• Sulfate-ions
• Phosphor / Phosphate

Nitrate-ions

• To show nitrate-ions in an acid we add iron
  ()-ions
• We add concentrated sulfuric acid
• We add 2 drops of Fe2SO4
• Should show a brown ring

Sulfate-ions

• To show sulfate-ions we add barium which will
  then give us a precipitate
• We add 4 drops of nitric acid
• We add 2 drops of barium chloride

Phosphor / phosphate

• Very complicated!
• We did a boiling of total phosphor
• Using tilbagesvaler

• Did a spectrophotometer measurement
• But did not finish
• Therefore no results

• Third experiment
• Phosphor / phosphate
• Not finished ? no results

However,

• We can still conclude, with common knowledge,
  that we should not drink water from the stream
  but from the tap or canteen.
