Title: How to Use Data for System Wide Change

1
How to Use Data for System Wide Change
  • IRA 53rd Annual Convention
  • Kerry Sewell, Ed.D.
  • May 4, 2008

2
The fierce urgency of now
3
There is a marked difference between vague, well
intentioned improvement efforts and
carefully targeted, goal-oriented, short term
efforts aimed explicitly getting measurable,
substantive results quickly. The former
characterizes the disappointing failures of the
past the latter can achieve better short term
and long term results. This strategy requires
leadership that any dedicated administrator can
provide it does not require immediate and vast
increases in resources. Schmoker, 1999
