Abstract
Several relative palladium-catalyzed reactions of
terminal alkynes with PdCl2 and CuCl2 were
reported.1 Recently, we found that treatment of
enediynes 1 with palladium chloride and copper
chloride in acetonitrile at 60 oC gave the
indenes 2 in 59-76 yields. It was observed that
reaction of compound 1 in the presence of ten
equivalents of MeOH under the same conditions
afforded compound 3 in 75 yields together with
compound 2 in 10 yields.
