Title: Apple Remote Desktop

1
Apple Remote Desktop
  • Hey! I got some new software for my school. For
    free. For what?

2
Apple Remote Desktop(aka ARD)
3
You have ARD, what is it?
  • Apple Remote Desktop is a program that will allow
a person to administer another computer from the
comfort of their very own desktop machine.

4
Why do I need ARD?
  • Your copy or ARD was bought with the new OSX
server that was installed in your school. Many
of the cabinets did not have a way to hook up to
the monitor in your server cabinet. ARD will
allow you to administer your server without the
    benefit of a monitor.

5
Computer and Server Administration
  • One can administer their OSX servers and other
OSX computers from ARD. One can share files and
    load software using ARD.

6
About Your ARD
  • Your copy or ARD is an unlimited license. This
means that you can install it on ONE (1, Uno) OSX
computer and administer an unlimited number of
computers. It should be installed on a OS 10.4
computer that the BLTC has access to.

7
Other stuff
  • In order to administer another computer or
server, the remote desktop client service must be
enabled on the machine(s) that you want to
administer. (ARD client is built into OSX
    computers.)

8

filled in to allow for full ARD functionality.

11
ARD to the New Xserve at your School

with ARD enabled. Email Dan (fosterd6_at_k12tn.net)
and he can send you the Username and Password to
log in as well as the IP address of the new
    server.

12
Connecting ARD to remote client

computer, click the ARD icon and you will see the
Remote Desktop Scanner View. This will show all
of the computers that have ARD client enabled.
