How Did We Get Here?
Merseyside Cheshire Cancer NetworkNetwork Role
(III) b
  • The Clinical Network Group CNG for Lung Cancer
was formed in October 1999 and selected Unisoft
    as their common supplier,
  • RCP Dataset has routinely been collected since
April 2000 for local audits and reported
centrally to Network Analyst since October 2000,
  • LUCADA Dataset subset of RCP CORE Dataset

6
Merseyside Cheshire Cancer NetworkNetwork Role
(IV)
  • Supported central funding for Unisoft software,
  • Communicated aims clearly through several layers
of management to people of varying status across
    the Network,
  • Analysed team structure / Job Descriptions
    inline with MDT setup,
  • to Coordinate workload, (NCASP Projects, CWT,
    Local Audit etc).
  • Process mapped patient pathways to understand
    data flows,(locally over multiple sites).
  • Encouraged our users to use CSV upload, instead
    of manual entry,
  • Developed an interactive CD-Rom Resource
    pack.

Cancer. Through various sources - Outpatient
    clinics, wards, CNS

Unisoft LCMS - Lucada Extract Module.
Red New Fields Unique to Lucada ltgt currently
in LCMS. Blue Filtered from RCP Core
Datasetwithin LCMS. Flagged for exportOnce
a sub-set of Core Data has been entered.
Source Unisoft Medical System
(81 Lucada Items), 17 dont appear in the
fundamental LCMS DB

Merseyside Cheshire Cancer Network Trust Role
Good Practice / Experience (IV)
Incorporate the data collection and entry
functions with other data management
functions Collection to support local Audits /
LUCADA Cancer Waiting Times etc
Patient Tracking Form Data Validation - St
Helens Knowsley
We already have substantial data collection
procedures in place for our existing LCMS
database, therefore the information is readily
available for us to use for the LUCADA project
MCCR Cancer Registry Denominator Validation
Incidence is Inline with RCP Dataset
Collected Locally
13
Some perceptions of national dataset projects
problems. . .
There are far too many datasets They need to
merge into one for collection purposes
Occasionally experiencing technical difficulties
accessing DB.
No Support for small screen resolutions 800 x 600
No default values for NA fields i.e. 99/99/9999
Weve never been asked to consider
implementation!
IE V6 is required, we currently use v5
Our Caldicott Guardian has been slow to sign User
Certification Form
Extra workload demand on Users to Supply Uploads
