Collaboration with SDO

• Council Resolution 30/2006 -- Collaboration with
  ASTM
• not possible to finalize a PSDO Agreement with
  ASTM
• ASTM remains willing to pursue collaboration with
  and contribution to ISO Technical Committees
  under the diverse forms currently being used,
  following the normal ISO procedures adjusted, as
  appropriate, to optimize input of stakeholders,
  as well as complementarity and consistency
  between ASTM and ISO Standards,

Management System Standards (MSS)

• Council Resolution 31/2006 -- MSS

  towards the public and private sectors in order
  to better address trends in management practices,
  expectations on MSS, and the promotion of the ISO
  MSS.

  the TMB on evolutions in MSS standardization and
  ensure technical coordination between committees
  preparing MSS,

Stakeholder participation

• GA Resolution 9/2006 -- Stakeholder participation
• panel discussion on Stakeholder participation
  getting everyone on board,
• stress that stakeholder participation is crucial
  to the standards development process and to the
  market relevance and effective use of the
  resulting standards,
• members to secure adequate representation of key
  stakeholders in the standards development
  process, in particular in their national mirror
  committees, including at meetings,
• Ensure that the ISO rules and practices
  facilitate and enhance such participation of
  existing and new key stakeholders, taking into
  account the comments and suggestions made by the
  panellists and during the discussion.

Reduction of length of DIS-ballot

• TMB Resolution 55/2006 -- Request for reduction
  of the DIS voting period
• Regarding requests from ISO/TC 67/SC 2 and ISO/TC
  28 to reduce the DIS ballot period,
• recalls that during the DIS ballot period many
  member bodies carry out the 60-day public enquiry
  required by the WTO/TBT Agreement, and in some
  instances by national legislation
• prior to carrying out such enquiries, many member
  bodies are obliged to translate the texts of DIS
  into their national languages,

• Whilst some practical advice is given, this Guide
  aims to point readers to further sources of
  detailed information.
• This will equipped the reader with further
  contacts and advice when examining the
  suitability of specific standards for use in
  technical regulation.
• This Guide should be read by anyone responsible
  for drafting, influencing or implementing
  technical regulation at national, regional or
  international level.
