LSDA Update

• New NASA Monitor, Dr. Kathy Johnson
• Major reorganization within Code U to support
  human exploration (manned mission to Mars). Fun
  Bio being realigned with human countermeasures.
• LSDA is expanding.
• Major new program is Artificial Gravity.
• Medical Ops coming under LSDA.
• Ground studies starting to be archived.
• Major proposal in process now, will know in a
  month.
• Science Working Group (SWG) established at JSC.

Birds of a Feather

• LSDA proposed a Birds of Feather for Space Life
  Sciences last fall
• Requires web site, and software to manage the
  BOF, no response on this as yet.
• LSDA will put pointer and general information on
  its web site this month, hope to point to CCSDS
  site.

Proposed Approach

• Tim Watington and Jacque Havelka at JSC working
  on Artifical Gravity program
• Phase I is underway/NASA only prototype
• Phase II involves German, French and Russian
  participation in the program.
• Get CCSDS BOF started right away and work to get
  international buy-in to working issues through
  this organization

• Start with adopting OAIS
• Write Space Life Science PAIMAS
• Reviewing XFDU
• BOF would decide on work packages
