Nutrients are chemicals. This image shows the
carbohydrate glucose, a simple sugar. The first
two images show 2 forms glucose can take linear
and ring-shaped. The bottom image shows a 3-D
depiction of the ring-formation (the most common
conformation). See how glucose is made of the
elements C, H, and O? The lines between the
elements means they share a bond (they are
sharing electrons, kind of holding onto each
other). The energy stored in glucose is stored
in certain of these bonds.

    of. Cells are the functional part of the body
    that actually use the nutrients we ingest. They
    use those nutrients to drive very specific
    chemical reactions.
