Positive Practices of a Model Disciple
A Walk That Talks!

Like many things pertaining to the Kingdom, being
is doing
  • 11Command and teach these things. 12Don't let
anyone look down on you because you are young,
but set an example for the believers in speech,
in life, in love, in faith and in purity.
  • 1 Timothy 411-12

13"You are the salt of the earth. But if the
salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made
salty again? It is no longer good for anything,
except to be thrown out and trampled by men.
14"You are the light of the world. A city on a
hill cannot be hidden. 15Neither do people light
a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put
it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone
in the house. 16In the same way, let your light
shine before men, that they may see your good
deeds and praise your Father in heaven. Matthew
513-18

This is true for ALL disciples!Being is doing!!
  • YOU are the salt of the earth
  • YOU are the light of the world
  • Dont let anyone look down on YOU, be-
    cause _______________________.
  • Dont let anyone or anything keep you from being
what God wants you to be!
  • In this way you will be what God wants you to be!

4
Positive practices are best developed in the
context of a positive role model
  • 1 Corinthians 111, Follow my example, as I
    follow the example of Christ.
  • Philippians 44-9, 4Rejoice in the Lord always.
I will say it again Rejoice! 5Let your
gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
6Do not be anxious about anything, but in
everything, by prayer and petition, with
thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And
the peace of God, which transcends all
understanding, will guard your hearts and your
    minds in Christ Jesus.
  • 8Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever
is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure,
whatever is lovely, whatever is admirableif
anything is excellent or praiseworthythink about
    such things.

9 Whatever you have learned or
received or heard from me, or seen in meput it
into practice. And the God of peace will be with
you.

Thus, there would have been no confusion in
Timothys mind when Paul commandedDon't let
anyone look down on you because you are young,
but set an example for the believers in speech,
in life, in love, in faith and in purity.

One thing to remember

7 But if we walk in
the light, as he is in the light, we have
fellowship with one another, and the blood of
Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
  • 5 This is the message we have heard from him and
declare to you God is light in him there is no
darkness at all. 6 If we claim to have fellowship
with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and
do not live out the truth.
  • 8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive
ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we
confess our sins, he is faithful and just and
will forgive us our sins and purify us from all
unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not
sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word
is not in us. 1 My dear children, I write this to
you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does
sin, we have an advocate with the FatherJesus
Christ, the Righteous One. 2 He is the atoning
sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but
also for the sins of the whole world. (1 John 15
    - 22)
