• Had a good foundation in what Paul was speaking
  about!
• Jewish history and customs (vs. 3)
• Knew prophets and message (vs. 26-27)
• Knew about Jesus and the apostles
• Paul saw a door of opportunity (vs. 1-3)

• Good foundations should lead you to surrender to
  the truth!
• Apollos Ephesian Christians (Acts 1824-26
  191-5)
• Be thankful for good foundations but use them
  to lead you to truth!
• Some have good foundations but realize change
  is needed (Mt. 1037 1929)

• He who loves father or mother more than Me is
  not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or
  daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me (Matt.
  1037)
• And everyone who has left houses or brothers or
  sisters or father or mother or wife or children
  or lands, for My names sake, shall receive a

• Paul changed when he saw that he was wrong
  (vs. 12-18)
• Gave up much in the process! (vs 19-23)
• Why? That I may know Christ! (Phil. 33ff)
• A powerful example of what anyone from Pauls
  background ought to do!

• Pauls pattern I Tim. 115-16

This is a faithful saying and worthy of all
acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world
to save sinners, of whom I am chief. However, for
this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first
Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a
pattern to those who are going to believe on Him
for everlasting life.

  when saw they were wrong!

• Appeal Do you believe I know you
  believe!
• He believed the message, but now what would
  he do about it?
• Decision Almost Persuaded (vs. 28)
• Saddest part was that he was so close!
