What you need.
A 2 litre plastic bottle

A plant pot

Sticky tape

Marker pen

The Method

Cut the top off the bottle

Place the top upside down into the bottom of the
bottle..
. and stick with sticky tape

Draw a zero line on the bottle

Dig a hole for the plant pot
and place the rain gauge inside

Make sure your rain gauge is in the open
away from trees

Fill the rain gauge with Water to the zero line.
and wait for it to rain

Tip
Always measure from the zero line
After rainfall, measure how much rain has
collected.
