Title: Who is a role model
1Who is a role model?
- A role model is defined as
- someone worthy of imitation
2Every child needs a role model
Children, especially during adolescence their
most vulnerable and impressionable age - are in
need of role models, and take them from all areas
that are close at hand, whether mass media,
parents and family, or their teachers
3Words of Wisdom
- No printed word, nor spoken plea can teach
- young minds what they should be. Not all
- the books on all the shelves but what
- the teachers are themselves
- Rudyard Kipling
4Never take for granted
5I have come to a frightening conclusion that I
am the decisive element in the classroom. It is
my personal approach that creates the climate.
It is my daily mood that makes the weather. As
a teacher I possess tremendous power to make a
childs life joyous or miserable. I can be a
tool of torture, or an instrument of inspiration.
I can humiliate, humor, hurt or heal. In all
situations it is my response which decides
whether a crisis will be escalated or
de-escalated, a child humanized or
de-humanized Haim Ginnat
6True Role Models
- True role models are those who possess the
qualities that we would like to have and those
who have affected us in a way that makes us want
to be better people
