Profile of the candidates

• People with leadership and technical advisory
  potential
• Gender balance 60 female, 40 male
• Geographical balance
• 50 programme countries
• 50 donor countries
• Age preference 35 years or under

Qualifications needed

• Generic competencies
• Requirements Masters degree (or equivalent) in
  a related field
• Proficiency in English and at least one of
  French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian
• Relevant work experience in development
• For non-JPOs at least 2-3 years
• For JPOs 18 months of service as of 1 July of
  the following year

Screening process

• Application deadline 14 November 2003
• Initial review eligibility criteria screening
• 1st review short essay and work relevance
• Remote competency assessment (January 2004)
• 2nd review remote competency assessment review
• 3rd review written assessment (Feb-March 2004)
• Reference checks
• Final interview panel review (March-April 2004)
• Final assessment language test
• Final shortlist (April/May 2004) 10 candidates
