achieve three inter-related aims - To improve work-related skills at all levels and
ensure that the skills available meet the needs
of businesses and individuals (supply) - To expand and diversify the economy by attracting
new investors, encouraging existing businesses to
expand and generating an environment which
encourages new businesses to set-up and develop
(demand) - To increase average incomes across the City

- Over the last three years, inward investment
projects led by the Council have attracted 5000
jobs and 1billion of investment. - Joint delivery of Job Centre Plus, Council and
Voluntary Sector support through Job
Linkage/Action Team network supporting 1600
residents from disadvantaged areas into
employment. - Business start-up suppliers (BIC, University,
College, SES and In Biz) supporting new business
formation - Good links into regional and neighbourhood
partnerships
