PA Beef Council Mission

• To serve the states beef, dairy and veal
  industries through promotion, education and
  research. Increase demand for beef veal
  through the retail foodservice channels.

The Beef Checkoff

• Established with the 1985 Farm Bill
• 1 per head assessment on the sale of live
  domestic and imported cattle, in addition to a
  similar assessment of imported beef and beef
  product.
• Became mandatory in 1988 when it was approved by
  79 of the producers in a national referendum
  vote.
• Qualified State Beef Councils collect the 1
  retain .50 cents for state programming.
• Cant lobby or influence government policy.
