Teaching for meaning is more apt to engage the
learner and yield meaningful, lasting learning
than traditional fact-based and procedure-based
lecture, recitation, or textbook instruction.
Use the research to select teaching practices
that actually maximize learning.

Students need a break in concentration at least
every 20 minutes. Following a 20 minute period
or less, the brain naturally shifts in attention
whether we want it to or not. (Sousa, 1995)
The topic shouldnt change every
20 minutes, just the way students are working
with the information.
