4TYPES OF ILLEGAL DRUGS
5STIMULANTS
Speed up the central nervous system.
Amphetamines- Results in excitation,
restlessness, rapid speech, irritability
convulsions, insomnia, stroke, and death.
Cocaine- Results in depression, mental
disorders, damage to lining of nose and blood
vessels when sniffed, or death.
Crack- is an addicting form of cocaine with the
same effects and problems.
6DEPRESSSANTS
Also called sedatives, tend to slow down the
central nervous system.
Tranquilizers
Valium
May lead to dependence and withdrawal symptoms
that include convulsions, cramps, and overdose.
7NARCOTICS
Some narcotics are used to relieve pain.
Use may result in decreased alertness, confusion,
slurred speech, nausea, vomiting,
unconsciousness, and possibly death.
Codeine
Heroin
8HALLUCINOGENS
Also known as psychedelics drugs, are drugs
that change the way a person perceives the world.
PCP- or angel dust
Perceptual distortions, confusion, loss of
coordination, violent behaviors, and anxiety.
LSD
Delusions, hallucinations, increased panic,
severe mental disorders, or death may result from
use.
9CANNABIS
The scientific name for marijuana, a hemp plant.
The leaves and flowers of marijuana are smoked,
eaten, or drunk for intoxicating effects.

Inhalants
11REFLECTIONS
I choose this lesson to enhance your thinking
about drugs. Drugs are not the solution to a
problem. It adds to the problem. I hope this
lesson will challenge you to reach your goals
without doing drugs and to be the best you can
be. Remember! A mind is a terrible thing to
waste.
