• Firefighter serves as a crewmember on a hand
  crew, using a variety of specialized tools,
  equipment and techniques on wildland and
  prescribed fire
• Engine crew serves on a fire crew that uses
  equipment associated with wildland fire engines,
  including pumps and hoses, as well as traditional
  hand crew equipment
• (Note these positions are sometimes called
  forestry technicians.)

• Entry level positions range from GS-3 to GS-7
• Thats 10-15/hour in southern CA 8-10/hour in
  many parts of the country
• Standard civil service system benefits apply,
  including overtime, vacation, sick leave hazard
  pay during incidents
