Composition of the UK Council

• 19 members from England and Scotland
• Wales and NI in process of electing members
• All are registered Caldicott Guardians
• Represent health and social care organisations

The Councils objectives

• To be a national body for Caldicott Guardians
• Promote the roles and activities of Caldicott
  Guardians
• A forum for the exchange of information, views
  and experience
• Represent the views of Caldicott Guardians on
  matters of policy relating to Information
  Governance
• A channel of communication with national
  organisations concerned with the NHS, the
  independent health sector, local government and
  health and social care professionals
• A resource centre, to provide support and arrange
  learning opportunities for Caldicott Guardians

• Initially Caldicott audit, strategic and
  organisational roles
• Impacted by changes in legislation, guidance,
  NPfIT, review of NHS Information Governance
