Standards Goals for GGF16

• Mission
• The standards community at GGF produces standards
  required for sustainable grid computing and
  encourages their widespread adoption.
• Goals
• Consolidate the progress since the previous GGF
  and make significant further progress addressing
  relevant standardization challenges combining
  technical progress and consensus building.
• Move DAIS WG, Byte-IO WG, GridFTP further in
  standards process
• Develop the WG process in SAGA
• Synchronize between standardization working
  groups to ensure structured and efficient
  progress toward high quality standards.
• Strengthen links between OGSA-WGs other WGs
• synchronization between Security Area and
  ltrest-of-ggfgt
• Draw in new standards effort, ideas and
  requirements from the other GGF communities,
  both industrial and research.
• New recruits and new organisations engaging in
  WGs
• Promote the work and emerging standards within
  the GGF community.
• Communication into Community sessions wrap up
  standards plenary
• Ensure that Standards are represented in the
  Community Sessions

Standards schedule _at_ GGF16

• Some opportunity for ad hoc meetings, F2F and
  tutorials / orientation on Sunday afternoon
• The planned opening session plenary until 1030
  Monday.
• A start to WG parallel tracks at 1030 Monday (a
  compromise may be necessary to start these tracks
  at 130pm we suspect that this would result
  in many standards workers arriving on the Monday
  circa noon)
• Welcome reception on Monday as you suggest.
• Tuesday standards tracks in parallel from
  1030am to 7pm as you currently show.
• Wednesday standards tracks in parallel from
  0830 to 5pm
• Wednesday Town meeting at lunch time as you
  suggest
• Wednesday 530pm to 7pm Standards gathering
  get together of all areas and groups to
  coordinate and report standards progress(This
  would mean there would not be a need for
  individual area meetings this GGF)(Community
  meetings could continue concurrently with this
  gathering)
• Thursday Some standards groups could continue
  working 0830 to 330 (others could hold F2F or
  other co-located meetings)
• This seems to impose no difficulties for the plan
  that Ann sent out, except for
• Discussion as to when standards start on the
  Monday.
• Whether any activity concurrent with GFSG on the
  Sunday afternoon is appropriate
• as it could involve some standards GFSGers.
