B-WiN
Das Breitband-Wissenschaftsnetz (B-WiN) des
DFN-Vereins wurde im Frühjahr 1996 als
Basisinfrastruktur des Deutschen Forschungsnetze
(DFN) in Betrieb genommen. Den Nutzern des DFN
steht damit eine Breitband-Infrastruktur zur
Verfügung, die Anschlüsse mit der Kapazität von
34 Mbit/s und seit Sommer 1996 auch Anschlüsse
mit einer Kapazität von 155 Mbit/s im
Anschlussbereich ermöglichen. Das B-WiN wird als
privates virtuelles Netz (VPN) auf dem
ATM-Cross-Connect-Netz der Deutschen Telekom AG
betrieben. Zehn Zugangspunkte, die zentralen
ATM-Service-Switches (ZSS), bedienen die
Kundenanschlüsse, die am Kundenstandort mit ATM
Kunden Service Switches (KSS) abschliessen. Die
ZSS sind durch virtuelle Pfade (VP) mit einer
Übertragungsrate von zunächst 34 Mbit/s
verbunden, die in Schritten von 2 Mbit/s
skalierbar sind.
