Terminology
  • Admin Has complete control over the system.
  • Carrier An individual or company that has one or
    more trucks with drivers, that may lack the legal
    permits and licenses to haul certain loads.
    Carriers are allowed to haul these loads as
    subcontractors for a fully licensed trucking
    company. CTC is fully licensed.
  • Customer A company or organization that is
    paying to have a load shipped.
  • Dispatcher An employee of CTC who is responsible
    for managing loads and communicating with
    carriers and customers. Their job functions
    include updating load status and providing it to
    customers, and providing directions and
    information to carriers as needed.
  • Drop A location at which goods are dropped off.

Terminology (cont.)
  • Load A collection of goods that is to be
    transported from one place to another. A load
    consists of at least one pick and one drop, but
    it is possible to have multiple picks and/or
    multiple drops.
  • Offer A load CTC is offering to be performed by
    a partner carrier.
  • Pick A location from which goods are picked up.
  • Quote An official offer from CTC to a customer
    to ship a load at a given price.
  • Requisition An official request from a customer
    for a load to be shipped for them by CTC.
