Now it came about after these things that God
tested Abraham . . .

God Tests Abraham
Take now your son, your only son, whom you love,
Isaac . . . and offer him there as a burnt
offering.

• Seems to contradict Gods promises
• Calls upon Abraham to make a choice between God
  Isaac

• Abraham considered that God is able to raise men
  even from the dead
• (Hebrews 1119)

Abraham Offers Isaac

• Departed for Moriah with Isaac, two young men,
  and wood for the offering
• Left donkey with the two young men
• Carried knife and fire as Isaac carried the wood
• Isaacs Question
• Abraham builds altar and binds Isaac
• Stopped from slaying him by the angel

Abraham Offers Isaac
Now I know you fear God, since you have not
withheld your son, your only son, from Me.

• Offered up the ram in the thicket
• The Lord Will Provide
• Reiteration of the Promises --
• Greatly bless you
• Greatly multiply you
• Seed shall possess gate of their enemies
• In your seed all the nations of the earth shall
  be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.
