    30 climate-friendly technologies

Convention Guidance to GEF on Technology Transfer
  • Convention Article 4.5
  • developed country Parties and other developed
    Parties included in Annex II shall take all
    practicable steps to promote, facilitate and
    finance, as appropriate, the transfer of, or
    access to, environmentally sound technologies and
    know-how to other Parties, particularly
    developing country Parties, to enable them to
    implement the provisions of the Convention.
  • Convention Article 11
  • A mechanism for the provision of financial
    resources on a grant or concessional basis,
    including for the transfer of technology, is
    hereby defined. It shall function under the
    guidance of and be accountable to the Conference
    of the Parties, which shall decide on its
    policies, program priorities and eligibility
    criteria related to this Convention.

GEF Response to COP 13 Decision
  • Decision 4/CP.13 requests the GEF to elaborate on
    a strategic program to scale up the level of
    investment for technology transfer
  • Consultation with Parties, international
    financial institutions, multilateral
    institutions, and private financial community
  • Council approved the proposed strategic program
    on technology transfer on November 13, and
    requested the Secretariat to forward the paper to
    SBI 29.
