• Articulates a philosophy of student learning and
  assessment.
• Defines essential terms, ideas and concepts
  related to assessment.
• Spells out a framework that guides assessment
  practice. Ensures high quality assessment.
• Aligns with the mission, vision and culture of
  the institution.

Developing an IAP Key Players

Essential Steps

• Develop a purpose and philosophy statement
• Establish assessment goals/expectations
• Define Roles who is responsible for what?
• Schedule tasks, events, deadlines.
• Build in time for dialogue (analysis, findings)
• Establish a reporting structure
• Develop a multi-semester timeline for ongoing
  assessment.
