Did you really want to be King of England

That is a very good question. My brother, Arthur,
was older than me and so was next in line to the
throne when our father Henry V11 died. Arthur was
Prince of Wales, a new tradition for successors
because Tudor was a Welsh family originally. I
was Duke of York, because our mother was
Elizabeth of York. Being Duke of York and second
has its bonuses. I am a prince of England and so
do not need to work, I can joust, hunt, dance and
be merry whilst my Father and then Arthur sorts
out the political world. Sadly Arthur died in
Ludlow, not long after he had married the Spanish
Princess Katherine of Aragon . This suddenly
promoted me into the world of intrigue and
politics, I became Prince of Wales, next in line
to the throne. My fathers deal with King
Ferdinand for Katherine to become Queen consort
of England was carried through to me. After the
King had received permission for me to marry my
sister-in-law, I became betrothed to Katherine. I
must say that this pleased me much. She was very
bright, and we talked for hours, read together
sang and danced together. I think I loved
her. Suddenly my Father died, I became King Henry
V111, Katherine of Aragon became Queen Katherine.
We were very happy for a long while.
