2What is soil erosion ?
- Soil erosion refers to the removal of soil,
especially of the fertile top soil - Layer, by wind and running water.
3How to prevent Soil erosion.
- Plants protect the soil against the force of rain
and wind. So grow more trees.
4The four ways in which soil can be conserved.
- Afforestation along hill slopes and other
uncultivated lands
5Making bunds around the small fields also helps
in preventing the washing away of the Top Soil
6The soil and land should be contour ploughed
around up and down a slope conserving water.
7Strip cropping method should be adopted in dry
farming. Where deficiency of moisture retard the
growth of plants
8The reasons for soil erosion
Deforestation
Cattle over grazing
Torrential rains
Ploughing of land
