  • 1Do you know where all fights and arguments come
from? They come from the selfish ambitions that
lurk within your hearts. 2You want things your
way and are jealous of others. So you argue and
fight with one another. 3You do not get what you
want, because the reason you ask is wrong. You
want things your way things that fit into your
    own self-centered plans.

personal benefit, gain, advancement or pleasure.

things are earthly, unspiritual, and motivated by
the Devil. 16 For wherever there is jealousy and

    and every kind of evil.

    tumult
  • the opposite of peace

10
Selfish Ambitions
  • The reason selfish ambitions always cause
confusion is that everyone has his own personal
preference as to how things should be done!

11
Selfish Ambitions
  • It usually doesnt take long for our personal
preferences to run head-long into someone elses!

    or regard for someone else!

15

  • What does Gods Word say about it?

16
Deference
  • We should not criticize those who think or act
    differently than us.
  • (Rom.141-10)

17
Deference
  • We should DO OUR BEST to avoid ANYTHING that
    causes our brother to stumble.
  • (Rom.1413 15 21)

18

  • It is not loving to cause distress to someone
else by your actions, even if those actions are
    fine in and of themselves.
  • (Rom.1415 20)

19

regard for those around us. We must be
considerate of others, too even of their doubts
and fears! 2 We should be willing to cater to
them, and always behave ourselves in a way that
encourages them, and builds them up in the Lord.
3 Remember that Christ Himself was always
considerate of others, and never acted selfishly.

Colossians 314-15
  • 14 The most important virtue is love. Love is
what binds us all together in perfect harmony.
15And let the peace that comes from Christ rule
in your hearts. For as members of one body you
are all called by God to live in peace.

25
James 315-16

27
1 Corinthians 110
  • 10Now, dear brothers and sisters, I appeal to you
by the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ to stop
arguing among yourselves. Let there be real
harmony so there wont be divisions in the
church. I plead with you to be of one mind,
    united in thought and purpose.

28
Philippians 22-7
  • 2 agree wholeheartedly with each other, loving
one another, and working together with one heart
    and one purpose.

29
Philippians 22-7
  • 3Dont be selfish dont live to make a good
impression on others. Be humble, thinking of
others as better than yourself. 4Dont think only
about your own affairs, but be interested in
others, too, and what they are doing.

30
Philippians 22-7
  • 5Your attitude should be the same that Christ
Jesus had. 6Though he was God, he did not demand
and cling to his rights as God. 7He made himself
of no reputation, and he took the lowly position
    of a humble servant.

  • Three Keys to

Getting Along Together
In God's Family
32
Always direct peoples attention TOWARD JESUS
(and away from YOU!)
  • Key 1

33
John 329-30
  • 29 I am filled with joy at Christs success!
  • 30 He must INCREASE
  • and I must DECREASE!

34
Be more concerned with the preferences of others
than with your own!
  • Key 2

35
Romans 151-3
  • 1 Our actions should never be selfish or without
regard for those around us. We must be
considerate of others, too even of their doubts
and fears! 2 We should be willing to cater to
them, and always behave ourselves in a way that

3 Remember that Christ Himself was always
considerate of others, and never acted selfishly.

36
1 Corinthians1442326
  • 4 A person who speaks in tongues is strengthened
    personally in the Lord.
  • 23 Even so, if unbelievers or people who dont
understand these things come into your meetings,
they may think you are just crazy.
  • 26 So remember that everything that is done when
you are together should be helpful and
encouraging to all who are there.

37
1 Corinthians1432-33 39-40
  • 32 Remember that people who are being used by God
are still in control of their spirit, and can
    wait for an appropriate time.
  • 33 For God is not a God of disorder, but a God of
peace, as it should be everywhere in the churches
    of God.
  • 39-40 So, dear brothers and sisters do not
forbid people to speak in tongues, but let
everything be done decently and in an orderly
    fashion.
