  • By it, those who have not lived perfectly can be
justified as a gift of God (322-24)
  • This gift is does not violate Gods justice

8
Justification by Faith Demonstrated Romans
41-25
  • Great men of the OT were justified by faith
    rather than their works
  • Abrahams justification by faith
  • So Abraham shows all men how to be justified
    (416-17)
  • We can be justified the same way (423-25)

  • The Condition of those who are Justified by Faith
    - 51-11

10
Those who are Justified by Faith Romans 51-11
  • Their relationship to God has changed (51-2)
  • Their relationship to suffering has changed
    (53-4)
  • They are secure in the hope that they possess
    (55)
  • It rests in their faith and Gods faithful love
    (56-11)

Romans 3-5
  • Justification by Faith Examined - 321-31
  • Justification by Faith Demonstrated - 41-25
  • The Condition of those who are Justified by Faith
    - 51-11
  • The Power of Christs Sacrifice Demonstrated -
    512-21

12
The Power of Christs sacrifice Demonstrated
Romans 512-21
  • Adams sin was unlike any other sin because it
introduced sin and death into a sinless and
    perfect world (512-14)
  • All other men experience spiritual death because
    they sin (512)
  • Jesus sacrifice solves the problems that Adams
    sin created (515-18)
  • Jesus sacrifice is more powerful than any other
    spiritual force (519-21)

13
Justification by Faith Examined Romans 321-31
14
Justification by Faith Examined Romans 321-31
  • Justification by faith is different from
justification by works of the law (321-22)

15
Romans 320-22 NKJV
  • Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will
be justified in His sight, for by the law is the
knowledge of sin. 21 But now the righteousness
of God apart from the law is revealed, being
witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even
the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus
Christ, to all and on all who believe.

16
Three Systems of Justification
  • By Works of the Law
  • Requires perfect works (Rom. 105 James 210-11)
  • ONE PROBLEM
  • We fail because we sin - Rom. 320
  • Only Jesus met this standard
  • By Faith
  • Requires perfect faith
  • Does not require perfect works
  • Does not exclude works, requires works - James
    214-17
  • By Faith Only
  • Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved
    Acts 1631
  • Nothing further is required
  • ONE PROBLEM
  • God does not offer this way
  • James 224

17
Justification by Faith Examined Romans 321-31
  • Justification by faith is different from
justification by works of the law (321-22)
  • By it, those who have not lived perfectly can be
justified as a gift of God (322-24)

18
Romans 322-24 NKJV
  • For there is no difference 23 for all have
sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24
being justified freely by His grace through the
redemption that is in Christ Jesus,

19
Justification by Faith Examined Romans 321-31
  • Justification by faith is different from
justification by works of the law (321-22)
  • By it, those who have not lived perfectly can be
justified as a gift of God (322-24)
  • This gift is does not violate Gods justice
because the demand for punishment has been
    satisfied by Jesus blood (325-26)

20
Romans 324-26 NKJV
  • Christ Jesus, 25 whom God set forth as a
propitiation by His blood, through faith, to
demonstrate His righteousness, because in His
forbearance God had passed over the sins that
were previously committed, 26 to demonstrate at
the present time His righteousness, that He might
be just and the justifier of the one who has
    faith in Jesus.

21
All Have Sinned
Abraham
Moses
David
Us
Hebrews 104 - For it is not possible that the
blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.
22
All Have Sinned
Abraham
Moses

Hebrews 912-15 - Not with the blood of goats and
calves, but with His own blood He entered the
Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained
eternal redemption. 15 And for this reason
He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means
of death, for the redemption of the
transgressions under the first covenant, that
those who are called may receive the promise of
the eternal inheritance.
23
Romans 324-26 NKJV
  • Christ Jesus, 25 whom God set forth as a
propitiation by His blood, through faith, to
demonstrate His righteousness, because in His
forbearance God had passed over the sins that
were previously committed, 26 to demonstrate at
the present time His righteousness, that He might
be just and the justifier of the one who has
    faith in Jesus.

24
Justification by Faith Examined Romans 321-31
  • Justification by faith is different from
justification by works of the law (321-22)
  • By it, those who have not lived perfectly can be
justified as a gift of God (322-24)
  • This gift is does not violate Gods justice
because the demand for punishment has been
    satisfied by Jesus blood (325-26)
  • Conclusions (327-31)

25
Romans 327-31 NKJV
  • Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what
law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith. 28
Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by
faith apart from the deeds of the law. 29 Or is
He the God of the Jews only? Is He not also the
God of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also,
30 since there is one God who will justify the
circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised
through faith. 31 Do we then make void the law
through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we
    establish the law.

26
Are You Righteous Before God?
  • Will your works justify you?
  • Only if they are perfect
  • Will your faith justify you?
  • Only if it is in Jesus Christ
  • Only if it living, complete faith

27
Conditions of Justification
  • Believe (John 824)
  • Repent (Luke 135)
  • Confess (Rom. 1010 Matt. 1032-33)
  • Be Baptized (Mk. 1616 John 35)
  • Live Faithfully (Rev. 211)
