Learning from the Greeks
2
  • "Powerful Brands Learning from the Greeks
  • Developing tools to explore and explain the
emotional impulses driving human behaviour is not
a 21st century phenomenon. In early civilization
the Greeks and Romans created a system of gods to
help explain their world. And these bear an
uncanny resemblance to the gods of almost every
other culture from Nordic to Native American and
Aztec to African. Whats more, the essence of
these is played out in every Hollywood
block-buster and across our TV screens every
night. No wonder then that smart marketers
worldwide are looking for ways to tap into these
    archetypal human drives.
  • In February this year the Esomar conference in
New York, titled BRANDMATTERS, tackled the role
for market research in helping create valuable
brand relationships. Roz Calders paper which
won Peoples Choice at the conference - looked
    specifically at the contribution archetypal
    segmentation can make to this.
  • Roz, who is a director of Focus Research and of
NeedScope International, will present her paper
including a global case study of successful
branding in a commodity market harnessing the
    power of archetypes."
