2009 Federal Lobbying Efforts
- Funding for diabetes prevention and treatment
programs at the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention and research at the National
Institutes of Health - Health Reform focus on coverage, quality and
prevention - Stem cell research
9- ADA strongly urges the 111th Congress to pass a
new budget that includes a 7 increase
(123,293,660) for the National Institute of
Diabetes and Digestive Kidney Diseases (NIDDK)
for a total of 1,884,631,660. This increase
corresponds with the health community's request
of a 7 increase overall to the National
Institutes of Health and will allow NIDDK to
continue valuable research. - 23.6 million increase for the CDC's Division of
Diabetes Translation (DDT) for a total of 84.447
million. This increase represents an investment
of 1 for each person in the United States with
diabetes. This will fund crucial innovative,
state-based disease programs in local communities
across the country and helps all of our
constituents.
