Title: Stewardship: The Key To True Riches
1- Stewardship The Key To True Riches
- Part 1, Understanding Who Really Owns What
2- I. Perspectives on who REALLY owns what
3- A. COMMUNISM Instrument of the State and the
individual has no rights of title to possessions. - B. CAPITALISM What a man can rightfully purchase
and control is his. - C. CHRISTIANITY God owns everything.
4- II. Gods Part
- Everything in the heavens and earth is Yours, O
Lord, and this is Your kingdom. We adore You as
being in control of everything. Riches and honor
come from You alone, and You are the Ruler of all
mankind Your hand controls power and might, and
it is at Your discretion that men are made great
and given strength. - I Chronicles 2911,12
5All you have is GODS gift to YOU. What
you do with it is YOUR gift to GOD.
6III. Our Part So then, men ought to regard us
as servants of Christ and as those entrusted
(stewards) with the secret things of God. Now it
is required that those who have been given a
trust (stewards) must prove faithful. 1
Corinthians 41,2

9IV. Four Models of Stewardship In the Bible 1.
The steward who does LITTLE WITH MUCH.
10 And He told them a parable, saying, The land
of a certain rich man was very productive. And
he began reasoning to himself, saying, What
shall I do, since I have no place to store my
crops? And he said, This is what I shall do I
will tear down my barns and build larger ones,
and there I will store all my grain and my goods.
And I will say to my soul, Soul, you take your
ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
11But God said to him, You fool! This very night
your soul is required of you and now who will
own what you have prepared? So is the man who
lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich
toward God. Luke 1216-21
12Observations 1. Only concerned about bettering
HIMSELF. 2. The fool hoarded and
did not GIVE.
13Obstacles to stewardship 1. The world offers
many SELFISH options. 2. WEALTH can tempt us
to be self-dependent.
14 2. The steward who does MUCH WITH LITTLE.
15 Jesus therefore lifting up His eyes, and seeing
that a great multitude was coming to Him, said to
Philip, Where are we to buy bread, that these
may eat? And this He was saying to test him for
He Himself knew what He was intending to do.
Philip answered Him, Two hundred denarii worth
of bread is not sufficient for them, for everyone
to receive a little.
16One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peters
brother, said to Him, There is a lad here who
has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are
these for so many people? John
65-9
17 Observations 1. The boy gave even the LITTLE
he had. 2. God blesses WHEN we give.
18Obstacles to stewardship 1. We feel our LITTLE
is insignificant. 2. It is hard to give when
we have BARELY enough.
193. The steward who does LITTLE WITH LITTLE.
20For it just like a man about to go on a journey,
who called his own slaves, and entrusted his
possessions to them. And to one he gave five
talents, to another, two, and to another, one,
each according to his own ability and he went to
his journey. But he who received the one talent
went away and dug in the ground, and hid his
masters money. Now after a long time the master
of those slaves came and settled accounts with
them. And the one also who had received the one
talent came up and said,
21Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping
where you did not sow, and gathering where you
scattered no seed. And I was afraid, and went
away and hid your talent in the ground see, you
have what is yours. But his master answered and
said to him, You wicked, lazy slave, you knew
that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where
I scattered no seed. Then you ought to have put
my money in the bank, and on my arrival I would
have received my money back with interest.
22Therefore take away the talent from him, and give
it to the one who has ten talents. For to
everyone who has shall more be given, and he
shall have an abundance but from the one who
does not have, even what he does have shall be
taken away. Matthew 2514,15,18,19, 24-29
23Observations 1. We ARE accountable for how we
use our talents. 2. Whatever our talents are,
God encourages us to INVEST in His work.
24Obstacles to stewardship 1. We compare our
resources with those of others, and forget that
God simply asks us to bless others with WHAT WE
HAVE. For if the willingness is there to
give, the gift is acceptable according to what
one has, not according to what he does not
have. 2 Corinthians 812
254. The steward who does MUCH WITH MUCH.
26 Immediately the one who had received the five
talents went and traded with them, and gained
five more talents... And the one who had
received the five talents came up and brought
five more talents, saying Master, you entrusted
(steward) five talents to me see, I have gained
five more talents. His master said to him,
Well done, good and faithful slave you were
faithful with a few things, I will put you in
charge of many things enter into the joy of your
master. Matthew 2516,20,21
27Observations 1. God INCREASES your resources
when you are FAITHFUL with what He has given
you. 2. By Gods GRACE, how you use your gifts
and resources TODAY will determine what you
receive TOMORROW.
282. By Gods GRACE, how you use your gifts and
resources TODAY will determine what you receive
TOMORROW. "Whoever can be trusted with very
little can also be trusted with
much Luke 1610
