Ph.D. stands for Doctor of Philosophy
This is a person who has made significant
contributions in their field of study.

This new program is a voluntary opportunity for
you to earn the title Doctor.
Some Ph.D.s become professors and others work in
industry or government.

All are highly respected members of our community.

To earn the title of Doctor, you must complete
a demanding, but very achievable set of
requirements.

Requirement
A Ph.D. knows the value of being reliable.
Except for being absent, you can have no back
work due.

Requirement
A Ph.D. realizes the value of hard work
You must have at least a 3.2 GPA and no grade
below a B.

Requirement
A Ph.D. believes in the value of character
You may not have any discipline referrals.

Requirement
A Ph.D. recognizes the value of helping others.
You will be expected to serve others for at least
8 hours. This may take the form of tutoring,
helping with labs, or community service.

Why would I want to do this?
The President makes far less money than he would
in business, yet he serves anyway.

Why would I want to do this?

• Some would earn the Ph.D. for the prestige of
  the title.
• Some would earn it simply because its a
  challenge.
• Some would earn it for the free food

What are the perks of an Athena Ph.D.?

• All of your teachers will call you Doctor.
• You will receive a diploma with your name
  listed as a Doctor of Philosophy.
• EACH marking period you will be treated to a
  special induction and lunch provided by your
  teachers.

• You can show this achievement on your résumés for
  jobs or college and high school societies.
• Your name will be published in Athena newsletters
  and placed on a large sign and perhaps a plaque.
• You will have the thanks and respect of those you
  helped along the way.

adviser who will help you along the way.
