Characteristics of Cognitive Coaching

• Metacognition- based on the awareness of ones
  own thinking processes, which fosters
  independence in learning.
• Requires modeling by the teacher for example,
  when a teacher explains thinking, reading, or
  calculating strategies and then its relevance.
• Teacher provides explicit steps for particular
  strategies, presenting a clear statement of the
  problem.
