RESPONSIBILITIES IN CHRIST (41-620) A. To
walk in unity (41-16)
E P H E S I A N S
41-6 - As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge
you to live a life worthy of the calling you have
received. Be completely humble and gentle be
patient, bearing with one another in love.
Make every effort to keep the unity of the
Spirit through the bond of peace.

RESPONSIBILITIES IN CHRIST (41-620) A. To
walk in unity (41-16)
E P H E S I A N S
47-11 - But to each one of us grace was given
accord-ing to the measure of Christ's giftAnd He
gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and
some as evangelists, and some as pastors and
teachers,
412-13 - for the equip-ping of the saints for
the work of service, to the building up of the
body of Christ until we all attain to the
unity of the faith, of the knowledge of the
Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure
of the stature which belongs to the
fulness of Christ
Not a point of termination like Philip in Acts
840 - Philip found himself at Azotus and as he
passed through he kept preaching the gospel to
all the cities, until he came to Caesarea.
a continuing goal process

RESPONSIBILITIES IN CHRIST (41-620) A. To
walk in unity (41-16)
E P H E S I A N S
414-16 AS A RESULT, we are no longer to be
children, tossed here and there by waves, and
carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the
trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful
scheming but speaking the truth in love, we are
to grow up in all aspects into Him, who is the
head, even Christ, from whom the whole body,
being fitted and held together by that which
every joint supplies, according to the proper
working of each individual part, causes the
growth of the body for the building up of itself
in love.
We have to mature
So as not to be easily manipulated or fooled
We have to grow up in Him, adding our individual
part to the whole structure functioning of the
body

RESPONSIBILITIES IN CHRIST (41-620) B. To
walk in purity (417-520)
E P H E S I A N S
Eph 417-19 - So I tell you this, and insist on
it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as
the Gentiles do, in the futility of their
thinking. They are dark-ened in their
understanding and separated from the life of God
because of the ignorance that is in them due to
the hardening of their hearts. Having lost all
sensitivity, they have given themselves over to
sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of
impurity, with a continual lust for more.
Sinful, Hopeless Condition of Gentiles out of
Christ
Useless thinking
Without understanding
Separated from the life of God by hardened hearts
Insensitive to righteousness
Devoted to their hunger for sensual impurity
13
RESPONSIBILITIES IN CHRIST (41-620) B. To
walk in purity (417-520)
E P H E S I A N S
Eph 420-24 - You, however, did not come to know
Christ that way. Surely you heard of him and
were taught in him in accordance with the truth
that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard
to your former way of life, to put off your old
self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful
desires to be made new in the attitude of your
minds and to put on the new self, created to be
like God in true righteousness and holiness.
But As Christians, You Have Been Transformed
You responded to the teaching of His truth
You put off that old sensual, corrupted, deceived
heart
You cleansed your mind to become a new man, to be
like God
You are devoted to righteousness and holiness
14
RESPONSIBILITIES IN CHRIST (41-620) B. To
walk in purity (417-520)
E P H E S I A N S
Righteousness Obligates You
425-28 - Therefore each of you must put off
falsehood and speak truthfully to his neigh-bor,
for we are all members of one body. "In your
anger do not sin" Do not let the sun go down
while you are still angry, and do not give the
devil a foothold. He who has been stealing must
steal no longer, but must work, doing some-thing
useful with his own hands, that he may have
something to share with those in need.
To be truthful
To control anger
To be honest
To work at something useful
To be able to help others who need help
Why work? To pay bills? To improve lifestyle? To
save for retirement?
15
RESPONSIBILITIES IN CHRIST (41-620) B. To
walk in purity (417-520)
E P H E S I A N S
Righteousness Obligates You
429-52 - Do not let any unwhole-some talk come
out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for
building others up according to their needs, that
it may benefit those who listen. And do not
grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were
sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all
bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander,
along with every form of malice. Be kind and
compassionate to one another, for-giving each
other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Be
imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved
children and live a life of love, just as Christ
loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant
offering and sacrifice to God.
To control your mouth
To cause no grief to the Spirit of God
To get rid of all malicious, destructive
attitudes behaviors
To be ruled by kindness, compassion forgiveness
To imitate God w/a life of sacrificial love for
others
16
RESPONSIBILITIES IN CHRIST (41-620) B. To
walk in purity (417-520)
E P H E S I A N S
Righteousness Obligates You
53-5 - But do not let immorality or any impurity
or greed even be named among you, as is proper
among saints and there must be no filthiness and
silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not
fitting, but rather giving of thanks. For this
you know with certainty, that no immoral or
impure person or covetous man, who is an
idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of
Christ and God.
To be free of all moral sin
To be free of foul, improper speech
To be aware of the fate of the immoral, impure,
covetous
Filthiness obscene talk Silly talk
buffoonery, empty Coarse jesting witty, good at
repartee (in a vulgar sense)
17
RESPONSIBILITIES IN CHRIST (41-620) B. To
walk in purity (417-520)
E P H E S I A N S
Righteousness Obligates You
56-10 - Let no one deceive you with empty words,
for because of these things the wrath of God
comes upon the sons of disobe-dience. Therefore
do not be par-takers with them for you were
formerly darkness, but now you are light in the
Lord walk as children of light (for the fruit of
the light consists in all goodness and
righteousness and truth), trying to learn what is
pleasing to the Lord.
To be unmoved by foolish rationalizations
To avoid all such sin
To be children of light who pursue a knowledge of
what pleases the Lord
18
RESPONSIBILITIES IN CHRIST (41-620) B. To
walk in purity (417-520)
E P H E S I A N S
Righteousness Obligates You
511-14 - Have nothing to do with the fruitless
deeds of dark-ness, but rather expose them. For
it is shameful even to men-tion what the
disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed
by the light becomes visible, for it is light
that makes everything visible. This is why it is
said "Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you."
To be totally free of involvement wwickedness
To not just live with it but to expose it for
what it is
To feel a sense of shame to talk about the
wickedness going on around us
19
RESPONSIBILITIES IN CHRIST (41-620) B. To
walk in purity (417-520)
E P H E S I A N S
Righteousness Obligates You
515-20 - Be very careful, then, how you live-not
as unwise but as wise, making the most of every
opportunity, because the days are evil.
Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what
the Lord's will is. Do not get drunk on wine,
which leads to debauchery. In-stead, be filled
with the Spirit. Speak to one another with
psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make
music in your heart to the Lord, always giving
thanks to God the Father for everything, in the
name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
To be careful live wisely
To choose your stimulation carefully
To fill your communications with spiritual content
