Aims
Battery Charger Maxim 713 is selected. The
integrated circuit has the following advantages
Output of the dynamo is rectified using a full
bridge circuit and capacitor. Voltage and Current
are measured with no load condition. The results
are observed for the selection of the appropriate
battery charging circuit
  • Investigate energy generation from bicycle using
    a single phase induction motor dynamo
  • Storage of electrical energy generated into
    rechargeable batteries
  • Fast Charging from C/4 to 4C
  • Charging up to 16 Series Cells
  • Automatic switch from fast to trickle charge

MAX 713 could perform the charging of the up to
5AA size battery efficiently when the dynamo is
running at 3000 to 6600rpm (12.5km/h to
27.5km/h).

Conclusion and Recommendations The project is a
success. However, it is idealistic for continuous
cycling for battery charging. The battery
charging circuit can be used as a safety lighting
device for cyclist. The implementation can be
used on device with variable speed, wind or water
turbine, in third world countries.
