The History of The Mechanical Pencil

• The Mechanical pencil has many names. Some names
  are lead pencil, clicky pencil, clutch pencil,
  Pacer and in Britain it is called propelling
  pencil.
• The first Mechanical pencil ever made was created
  in Britain in 1822 by a Sampson Mordan and
  Gabriel Riddle.

• Mordan began to produce these pencil and also
  some silver objects. But in world war two their
  factory was bombed.
• As time past many people began to improvise off
  this idea and ideas such as spring loaded pencil
  and twist feed mechanism was developed

• The First pencil was a piece of graphite in some
  wood but the mechanical pencil came out to keep
  peoples hands less messy and also so people could
  have more comfort while writing
• In the lead there is a combination of graphite
  and clay.

• Of course the way the lead came out was not the
  only thing that began to change the size of the
  lead changed too. They began to have .9mm, .7,
  and .3
• In 1913 Charles E. Keeran was the first to mass
  produce the mechanical pencil.

• Lots of improvising as been done to mechanical
  pencils they can be much thinner and some have
  better erasers or eraser caps.
