The mission

• To create a fertile humus for receiving
  innovation in the area of Naples and of the south
  of Italy

The steps

• 1987 first edition of Futuro Remoto
• 1988-90 creation of the Foundation and first
  elaboration of Città della Scienza project
• 1992-94 opening of the Spazio IDIS in Bagnoli
  acquisition of the factory the project was
  submitted and funded
• 1996 opening of the prototype Science Centre
• 2001 opening of the Science Centre
• 2003 opening of BIC, Training Centre, Conference
  Centre

The institutional configuration

• In 2003, being the project concluded, the role of
  the Foundation as the maker is finished
• Since 2005, the management is guaranteed by a
  limited consortium company made by Campania
  Region and the Foundation
• The Foundation is the cultural and scientific
  propeller of Città della Scienza and manages the
  property
