13
Focus Teachers and Coaches, to be developed
  • Summer School in PI
  • For research students and educators, shared
between PIEp and Zhejiang University, Shanghai
  • One week_at_KTH and one week_at_Zhejiang during August
    2008
  • Best-practices in Science Parks and Education

practices between Science parks and education in
    PI
  • Mobility program for educators
  • Promotes movement between industry and academia
  • Promotes international movement
  • Network/Body for innovation educators
  • Towards licensing/certifying educators

14
Focus Doctoral students
  • National Graduate School in Product Innovation
  • Kick-off/Launch 2008, with 25 students
  • Innovation research related kick-off at Stanford
    University April 08
  • Med-tech-related kick-off in Minneapolis April 08
  • Graduate School promotes networks
  • The graduate school gathers research and
    researchers in innovation engineering, together
    with the IK/IM field
  • Graduate School promotes mobility
  • Doctoral students are supported and promoted to
participate in meetings, networks and courses
both on a national and international level

15
Focus Doctoral students
  • Graduate School provides certification
  • Requirements for certification are Extensive and
impeccable research in the field of PI,
    international exchange, industrial rotation,
    national network, participation in product
    development projects
  • Graduate School promotes networks of supervisors
  • Each doctoral student is supervised by a team of
    researchers, innovators and business coaches
  • Graduate School offers courses and workshops
  • In product innovation engineering, thematic,
    cross-disciplinary and hands-on
  • Graduate School promotes new products and
    businesses
  • Not instead, but as a complement to a doctoral
    thesis

16
Ideas for the future
  • Focus area Industrial Collaboration
  • Can we pipe funding from industrial partners to
    innovative students? (Thesis projects, stipends,
    scholarships, patent applications etc)
  • Can we establish pipes between innovative
    students and innovation hunters/corporate
partners? How do we create settings where those
    meet?
  • Can we establish a better collaboration between
science parks, innovators and students? Can our
    students practice innovation with innovators?

17
Offers to Industrial Collaborators
  • The PIEp corporate partners can benefit from PIEp
by participating with ideas and concepts for
product development projects. There are several
    models
  • PIEp Master thesis projects
  • Advanced Student Projects for innovation
engineering courses, typically at Master or PhD
    candidate level
  • Advanced Student Projects for design innovation
courses where PIEp co-operates with Stanford
    University. Master thesis level.

18
Industrial Collaboration
  • Outcome
  • While results cannot be guaranteed, these
projects and courses typically have an
    outstanding IP creation track record.
  • Access and contact with innovative students
  • Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)
  • To be agreed separately for each project
  • Fee
  • Depending of project and IPR agreement. Agreed
    separately for each project.
