What York have been trying to do locally with our

  • Encouraging ITT and PGCE institutions to link up
with their local 14-19 partnerships to benefit
from ongoing dialogue and access to
    presentations, conferences, CPD opportunities,
    links to employers, etc
  • We have very pro-active links with our local

  • Gaps in industry knowledge are being filled by
visits to works shadowing sector specific
    employers, etc

Filling the knowledge base of ITT institutions
  • We are ensuring that there are dedicated ITT
places across the country for training teachers
    specifically in Diploma lines.
  • All HEIs that deliver the ITT for QTS are
required through one of the 40 requirements
placed on them and inspected on by Ofsted to
make sure that the QTS students have knowledge of
the curriculum and changes in the curriculum. It
was explicit that this included knowledge of the
    14-19 reforms.
  • In addition there was a funding (at a rate of 50
per QTS student) to support any updating required
to ensure the 14-19 reforms are included.
