  • Internal AFP Network (formerly known as
    Professional Reporting)
  • Environment conducive to reporting corruption and
    misconduct
  • NON ARBITRARY CHOICE for reporting corruption and
    misconduct
  • Can allow for anonymity
  • Provides support options and feedback throughout
    process
  • Not part of Professional Standards (PRS)

  • All ranks and levels
  • Confidants listed under our homepage
  • The CNCT can assist in identifying one
    (separation)
  • Encouraged to discuss outside of workplace
  • Encouraged to utilise Confidants outside their
    work area

  • How are the Confidants selected, trained and
    coordinated?
  • Selected or volunteer from any AFP workplace
  • On-line training, 2 day workshop and ongoing
    refresher training
  • Referrals are coordinated through Coordination
    Team, Canberra.

  • Trusting the Network
  • Confidentiality is vital to the Network
  • We look to maintain confidentiality whenever
    possible
  • May not be possible in criminal matters
  • Does not affect our commitment to procedural
    fairness and the AFP Core Values
  • Information is stored and managed on our own IT
    system, not on the LAN or PROMIS

  • What do we do with Confidant Network referrals?
  • All referrals are reported to the Coordination
    Team
  • Available options and support services are
    considered
  • Options provided to Confidant
  • Ongoing feedback support is provided to client

  • Yearly reviews are conducted in partnership with
    key stakeholders
  • Regular integrity checks for Confidants
  • Mandatory training
  • Quarterly reports identifying trends

  • FAIR the Confidant Network model
  • Fairness to all parties involved
  • Advice and support even if not a Confidant
    matter
  • Independence and Information not part of PRS
  • Referral and Reporting conduit of information
    and a coordination point enabling employees to
    fulfil their reporting obligation
