About the Rainforest

• Rainforests are forests which have high rainfall
• Rainforests are home to two thirds of all the
  living animal and plant species in the world.
• Tropical rain forests are called the Jewels of
  the Earth and the Worlds largest pharmacy because
  of the large number of natural medicines found
  there. Tropical rain forests are also often
  called the Earths lungs although there is no
  actual basis for such a claim as tropical
  rainforests are known to be oxygen neutral with
  either little or no oxygen production.

Whats happening to it?

• The Rainforest is beginning to disappear!
• People are saying its either because of Global
  Warming or all the trees are being chopped down
  for the wood!
• Most Rainforests are being chopped down with
  chainsaws, bulldozers and fires!
• The last Rainforest could disappear in less than
  40 years!

Who could lose their homes?

• Lots of animals could lose their homes, including
  one very cheeky animal
• Its an Orang-utan! The poor creatures are losing
  their very own homes because people chop down the
  trees!
• The animals have no place to live, and sometimes,
  they lose their friends and family.

The Future of the Rainforests

• What could happen in the Future?
• In the Future, the Rainforests could all be gone
  in about 40 years!
• But, if it does happen, new inventions might be
  made and they wont need the wood any more so
  some Rainforests could still be here for more
  than 40 years!

The End!

• Thats the end of this PowerPoint on the
  Rainforest!
• Just one thing, if you have a dad who is an
  inventor, make sure he makes an invention which
  isnt made out of wood!
