Title: Rainforest Destruction
1Rainforest Destruction By Eva Wilson
2Why do we need Rainforests ?
The plants in the rainforests generate a lot of
the Earths oxygen
The plants in the rainforest remove carbon
dioxide and store it in their roots, stems,
leaves and branches
By turning CO2 into clean air, rainforests help
fight pollution
Destroying the rainforests will increase global
warming because more CO2 will be released into
the atmosphere.
3What is happening to the rainforests ?
-
- It has been estimated that large numbers of
species are being forced to extinction (possibly
more than 50,000 a year at the rate)
How many of each set is extinct in 6 months

- Logging has been a huge part of the destruction
of the rainforests which is cutting down oxygen

4What do rainforests produce?
- Trees arent the only plants that produce
supplies like a kako plant gives oil for
moisturisers. Other plant products may include
cough drops, perfumes, detergents, beverages,
flavouring, fuel, varnish ,wood finishing, rain
boots, coats and even golf balls.
- Rainforests produce us with every day supplys
such as paper, wood and many more - Most furnitures like wooden tables, chairs, cabinets
and draws are made from trees. -
Paper
Nail polish remover
Tea tree oil
wood
5What species are in the rainforests ?
Poison dart frog
- There is 4 main sets of animals and they are all
in the rainforest. - The most common set is amphibians but mammals
come in a close second. - Amphibians are most common as for rainforests are
very moist and humid places but it is numbering
down as amphibians are losing there homes by
logging
Golden lion tamarin monkey
Philippine pit viper snake
Plum Throated Cotinga bird
6What rainforests are there ?
- There is 2 well known rain forests the Amazon and
the Congo - The biggest is the Amazon which holds over 1
million animals - There is types of rainforests temperate and
tropical

Temperate rainforests

7Why is destruction of the rain forest happening ?
- The destruction of the rainforest is happening
because we need supplies such as wood for burning
and making furniture and materials from plants
like oils and food - We need more space for factories and homes as the
population is growing in the world right this
seconds
8How can we stop destruction of the rainforest ?
- People have no right to destroy the rainforests
for their own purposes also no person should be
encouraging them too. - We should be using different sources of materials
such as plastic or metal rather than wood.
- It may not be really obvious, but fossil fuels
like coal and oil are a major threat to
rainforests and rainforest communities alike. Oil
extraction has increased dramatically in the
Amazon, for instance, often with devastating
social and environmental effects
