1
The Southeast
By Lucas ,Mario ,and Ananya.
2
Culture
In the Southeast, part of the culture was
slavery. 4 million African Americans were
enslaved in 1860. Another example of culture is
agriculture, which joins economy to culture. The
last part of culture that I will talk about is
the music. The blues and Jazz were part of the
southern culture especially on the Mississippi.
Famous leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr.,
who was born in Alabama, fought for civil rights.

Geography
Part of the Appalachian Mountains is in the
Southeast. Also part of the Mississippi River and
its tributaries are in the southeast.
4
Climate
In the Southeast, the climate is very warm. Since
it is very warm, many cash crops can grow. Also,
Disneyland is in Florida because it almost never
rains. The unexpected freeze of 1962 killed 8
billion oranges.
5
Economy
Growing crops is important to farmers in the
Southeast. They grow cash crops to sell, and
regular crops to eat, such as oranges, tobacco,
soy beans, and rice. Coal is also important to
the Southeast. In 1993, more than 934 million
tons of coal were produced.
