Knowing The Will Of God
  • Only one person should talk at a time.
  • No side conversations when somebody is speaking.
  • Appreciate the other persons view.
  • Give freely of your experience.
  • Say what you think courteously.
  • Confine your discussion to the topic.
  • Thanks,
  • Topics Holiness of God Isaiah 63v

    Spirit. Isaiah 68-10v
  • Knowing The Will Of God Through Circumstances And
    Counsel Proverbs 246v

2
Holiness of God (glorifying God). 1-1
  • Before any one can understand the will of God,
they must have spiritual knowledge of His
    Holiness.
  • (Isaiah 63v) And one cried to another and said
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts the whole
earth is full of His glory! Which means to
glorify God acknowledge his holiness. Humans
must give praises to the most High and Holy
divine God, the Lord of hosts.
  • "Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do
all to the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 1031v).
  • One of the greatest fall of mankind is in not
realizing who God is and what His character is
    like.

3
Holiness of God (glorifying God). 1-2
  • God is NOT human. He is God, He is a Holy God and
as such there is an infinite gap between God and
    man concerning His holiness.
  • The gap is His holiness verses the ungodliness
    in man kind.
  • The gap is Gods absolute righteousness and
goodness verses the sinful nature in man.
  • The gap between God and us is unbridgeable from
our side. If this unbridgeable gap is to be
bridged, then it must be from Gods sidefor God
    is holy.
  • To be holy means to be set apart. God is set
apart from the power, practice, and presence of
sin, and He is set apart to absolute
righteousness and goodness. There is no sin in
God and sin cannot stand in the present of God.

4
Holiness of God (glorifying God). 1-3
  • One needs to understand this. If we are to
approach God, we must do so on Gods terms.
Therefore Somehow, we must be made holyjust as
    holy as God is.
  • Any holiness, which falls short of Gods
holiness, will not be able to stand in the
presence of God. So, because of the holiness of
God, we must have a new life in which our sins
have been forgiven and done away with so that we
actually can be as separated from sin as God is.
  • This is the good news of the gospel that Christ
died for our sins, having taken them upon
Himself, and has set us apart from them. This is
our position before God which will never change.

5
Holiness of God (glorifying God). 1-4
  • Because of what God has done, we can enter boldly
into the presence of God thru our Lord and savor
Jesus Christ. So now, if any one happens to thank
that he or she cant be Holy, I have just told
you how you can be. For this is the good news of
the gospel that Jesus Christ died for our sins.
So you see, as long as you have sin in your life,
    that gap is un-bridged.
  • When we confess our sins, we are covered with the
blood of Jesus and their fore, that unbridgeable
    gap becomes bridged.
  • So how in the first place did man become sin and
separated from God and his Holiness?

6
Holiness of God (glorifying God). 1-5
  • Turn to (GEN 31v) which tell us that the serpent
was more cunning than any beast of the field,
which the LORD God had made. Meaning of CUNNING
Having skill in deception, guile, cunning means
delicately pleasing pretty or cute and guile
    means skillful deceit.
  • Turn to GEN 36-7v Adams Sin.
  • 6V So when the woman saw that the tree was good
for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a
tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its
fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with
her, and he ate. 7V Then the eyes of both of
them were opened, and they knew that they were
naked and they sewed fig leaves together and
    made themselves coverings.
  • After this, Gods plan was to redeem man back to
Himself and He did that threw His son Jesus
    Christ.

7
Holiness of God (glorifying God). 1-6
  • (GEN. 217V) Adams sin The tree of knowledge
good and evil, of which God said that he was not
to eat under penalty of death.
  • Up to this time Adam was morally innocent. When
he sinned, he by nature became a sinner. As such
he died. He died spiritually immediately and
    began to die physically.
  • Adam was the first man ever to live upon the
face of the earth. From Adam and Eve come every
other human being who ever has lived upon the
face of the earth. Adam is the federal head
from whom every other man came. Human beings
    beget human beings.
  • Every human being descended from Adam is a sinner
just like him except Christ. Be cause of Adams
sin, death entered into the human race (Rom.
512-21V) every human being needs to have the
    new life.

8
The contrast of RIGHTEOUSNESS and CONDEMNATION
  • Condemnation The act of condemning, the state
    of being condemned.
  • Look at verse 18. Therefore, as through one
mans offense judgment came to all men, resulting
in condemnation, even so through one Mans
righteous act the free gift came to all men,
    resulting in justification of life.
  • First lest talk about the offense. For as by one
mans disobedience many were made sinners.
  • The judgment, which came from one offense,
    resulted in condemnation.
  • The act of condemning, resulted when Adam
himself, eat of the forbidden fruit. Now the
state of being condemned, resulted threw mans
disobedience, which now the judgment, which came
form one offense, resulted in condemnation. So
what was the offense? Mans disobedience. (Now
    Gods Judgment)

9
Righteousness
  • The Free Gift Take, a look at verse 15. But
the free gift is not like the offense. For if by
the one mans offense many died, much more the
grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one
Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many.
  • The gift is not like that which came through the
one who sinned. The judgment, which came from one
offense, resulted in condemnation, but the free
gift, which came from many offenses, resulted in
    justification.
  • Much more those who receive abundance of grace
and of the gift of righteousness will, reign in
life through the One, Jesus Christ. So through
one Mans righteous act the free gift came to all
men, resulting in justification of life.
  • Take a look verse 19. For as by one mans
disobedience many were made sinners, so also by
one Mans obedience many will be made righteous.
  • Verse 20. Moreover the law entered that the
offense might abound. But where sin abounded,
    grace abounded much more.

10
Knowing The Will Of God Through Submission To The
Spirit. Isaiah 68-10v 1-1
  • (8v) Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying
Whom Shall I send, and who will go for Us? Then
I said, Here am I! Send me.
  • (9v) And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear
ye indeed, but understand not and see ye indeed,
    but perceive not.
  • (10v) Make the heart of this people fat, and
make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes lest
they see with their eyes, and hear with their
ears, and understand with their heart, and
    convert, and be healed.
  • These three verses talks about the commission of
Isaiah, in the year that King Uzziah died, Isaiah
saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted
up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.
Above it stood seraphim each one had six wings
with two he covered his face, with two he covered
his feet, and with two he flew.

11
Knowing The Will Of God Through Submission To The
Spirit. 1-2
  • Seraphim meaning, a celestial being having three
pairs of wings. In this sense, Celestial means
relating to heaven, supremely good, Blessed,
    Divine, Eternal, Holy, Spiritual
  • This word Seraphim also means fiery ones, in
allusion, as is supposed, to their burning love.
They are represented as "standing" above the King
as he sat upon his throne, ready at once to
minister unto him. Their form appears to have
been human, with the addition of wings. One of
the first of nine orders of Angels.
  • Take a look verse 3. And one cried to another
and said Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts
The whole earth is full of His glory!

12
Knowing The Will Of God Through Submission To The
Spirit. 1-3
  • One of the Seraphim flew to Isaiah having in his
hand a love coal, which he had taken with the
tongs from the altar. And he touched Isaiah mouth
with it, and said Behold, this has touched your
lips Your iniquity is taken away, And your sin
    purged.
  • Now go back to verse 9 10v, the Lord speaking
to Isaiah and saying go and tell this people
Keep on hearing, but do not understand Keep on
seeing, but do not perceive. Make the heart of
this people dull, And their ears heavy, And shut
their eyes Lest they see with their eyes, And
hear with their ears, And understand with their
heart, And return and be healed, which is simply
    put, be converted.
  • The moment a repenting sinner receives Christ by
faith into his or her heart, the Holy Spirit
immediately does five things for them

13
Knowing The Will Of God Through Submission To The
Spirit. 1-4
  • He regenerates the believer, that is, He gives
him a new nature. (John 35-6v Titus 35v).
  • He baptizes the believer into the body of Christ.
    (1ST Corinthians 1213v).
  • He indwells the believer. (Roman 89-11v 1st
    Corinthians 619-20v).
  • (a) To exist as an animating or divine inner
    spirit, force, or principle.
  • (b) To be located or implanted inside something.
  • He seals the believer. (Ephesians 113-14
    430-32v).
  • (a) To complete (something), To engage or make
    full
  • He fills the believer. (Acts 24 48-9 755
    1352v).
  • All five of these ministries occur at conversion.
  • What do I mean by conversion?

14
Knowing The Will Of God Through Submission To The
Spirit. 1-5
  • The act of converting, or the state of being
    converted.
  • A change in which one adopts a new religion,
    faith, or belief.
  • Something that is changed from one uses
    function, or purpose to another.
  • The fifth ministry, however, should be asked for
as needed. See Ephesians 518 Galatians
    516-18v.
  • Actually the word control is a better term than
fill in describing this fifth ministry. It does
not mean that we get more of the Spirit, but
rather that He gets more of us.
  • The fifth ministry is lost when the believer
either quenches or grieves the Holy Spirit.
    Quenches1st Thessalonians 519v Grieves
    Ephesians 430v.

15
Knowing The Will Of God Through Submission To The
Spirit. 1-6
  • Meaning of Quench To put out (a fire, for
example) when filled with the Holy Spirit and you
sin or quench the Holy Spirit, youve just put
out your fire. Jesus said that he will baptize
you with fire, which means be filled with the
Holy Spirit. We can re- quench our thirst of the
Holy Spirit but, however, it should be asked for
    as needed.
  • Meaning of Grieves To cause to be sorrowful
distress (example) It grieves me to receive the
Holy Spirit. Do not be sorrowful that you have
received the Holy Spirit, instead be happy,
    glorify God.
  • The fifth ministry can be regained by following
the command of (1st John 19v), If we confess
our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us
our sins and to cleanse us from all
    unrighteousness.

16
Knowing The Will Of God Through Submission To The
Spirit. 1-7
  • How can a Christian be certain that he or she is
indeed controlled by the Holy Spirit on a daily
    basis?
  • First, he or she must consecrate his body as a
living sacrifice to the Holy Spirit. (Romans
    121-2v)
  • Second, he or she must depend upon the Holy
Spirit to convict them of sin. (Psalms 13923-24
    1912-14v).
  • Finally, he or she must look to the Holy Spirit
for divine power in serving Christ. (Acts 18
    Galatians 516-17v and Ephesians 316v).

17
Knowing The Will Of God Through Circumstances And
Counsel Proverbs 246v 1-1
  • While the Christians is to live above their
circumstances, he or she is not to be unaware of
them. God often works through circumstances in
revealing His perfect will for us.
  • Certainly Pauls wonderful statement, all things
works together for good to those who love God
(Romans 828v) takes into account our
circumstances. A number of biblical examples can
    be given to illustrate this.
  • The Will Of God Through Circumstances
  • God directed Abraham to substitute a ram, whose
horns had somehow become entangled in a thicket,
for the life of Isaac Genesis 2213v.
  • God arranged for Pharaohs daughter to be bathing
in the river Nile at the exact time the baby
Moses floated by in a little ark of bulrushes
    Exodus 21-10v
  • Pauls young nephew happened to overhear a plot
to kill his famous uncle. He then reported it to
the authorities, thus saving the apostles life
    Acts 2312-22v.

18
Knowing The Will Of God Through Circumstances And
Counsel Proverbs 246v 1-2
  • Surely these circumstances were arranged. So the
Christian should ask, when attempting to discover
Gods will, is the Lord showing me something
    through my circumstances?
  • The Will Of God Through Counsel
  • Counselors also play an important role in finding
Gods will. In a multitude of counselors there
is safety (Proverbs 246v), but however, three
things must be kept in mind at this point
  • Counsel must come from a godly source.
Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of
trouble is like a bad tooth and a foot out of
    joint (Proverbs 2519v).
  • Sometimes even the godliest person can
unknowingly give us wrong advice. Nathan the
prophet did this when he encouraged David to
build the temple (2 Samuel 71-13v).
  • In the final analysis, each person is responsible
for knowing Gods revealed purpose for his or her
    own life.

19
Occasions Of Doubt (Lamentations 520)
  • (a) Doubt may be defined as an uncertainty of
belief or lack of confidence in something.
Applied to the Christian life, doubt refers to
the unbelief in God and His Word that Christians
occasionally exhibit. It is possible that in a
moment of infirmity a Christian may doubt the
existence of God in spite of the fact that it is
not reasonable for a person to disbelieve this
truth (Psalms 14 1v). A Christian is more likely
to doubt his salvation after sinning or after a
spiritual defeat. A misunderstanding of such
verses as First John 39v contributes to this
doubt Whoever has been born of God does not
sin. It is crucial to note that this verse
speaks of a life-style of sin, not instances of
    sin.
  • (b) A Christian may also doubt Gods sovereignty
of His goodness. In such circumstances as
    sickness, suffering, injustice, opposition,
    economic problems, family problems, national
calamity, or apparently unanswered prayer, a
Christian may be tempted to doubt the goodness of
God. One must remember that it is not always
possible to discern Gods good hand in the
affairs of life. The person of faith believes God
even when circumstances appear to the contrary.
  • (c) All doubt may be traced ultimately to belief
in the Word of God, which affirms beyond question
the existence and character of God. To regard
doubt as the sin of unbelief and then confess it
to God as sin is therefore the first step toward
    conquering it.

20
Sources Of Doubt (Habakkuk 12)
  • (a) One of the most potent sources of doubt is
introduced in the early chapters of Genesis. It
is Satan himself who causes Eve to doubt God by
questioning His Word Has God indeed said, You
shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
(Genesis 31v). Satan even tries to get the
suffering Job to curse God (Job 111v). Satan is
said to be seeking to devour Christians (1 Peter
58v). This statement must not be taken
literally, but means that Satan wants to devour
the Christians commitment to God and testimony
before others. One way he does this is by
    introducing doubt into the mind.
  • (b) The world system is another source of doubt.
Since it has its own set of values and objectives
that are opposed to God, it also has its own
worldly wisdom (1 Corinthians 26v). This wisdom
stands in direct opposition to the wisdom of God
taught by the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 213v).
It is clearly revealed, for example, in the
opposition of the evolutionary theory to the
truth of the creation of man (Timothy 620v).
  • (c) Probably the greatest source of doubt
Christians face is simply, their own spiritual
immaturity. James traces doubting in prayer to
    double-mindedness and instability (James 18v).
Paul explains that when Christians doubt sound
doctrine, it is because they are children in the
faith and thus is easily deceived (Ephesians
414v). Conquering this kind of doubt demands a
    growing, obedient relationship with God.

21
Cure for Doubt 1 King 1821v 1-1
  • The cure for doubt depends to some extent on the
thing that is doubted. However, the real problem
is not in the object that is doubted but in the
subject who doubts. Therefore, the doubting
Christian should take the following steps
  • Confess the doubt to god as sin. Doubt is
basically unbelief in God and His Word and is
therefore sin (Romans 1423 Hebrews 116v). God
has promised to hear our confession of even the
    darkest unbelief.
  • Study the evidence for the Christian faith.
Christians have nothing to fear by looking into
the facts from any source of knowledge. The
greatest evidence for the belief of Christianity
is the resurrection of Christ. The resurrection
of Christ is witnessed by many proofs. Among
these are the empty tomb, post-resurrection
appearances, and transformed disciples. Since the
Resurrection is true, it verifies everything the
    bible says.

22
Cure for Doubt 1 King 1821 1-2
  • Make certain of your salvation. Paul exhorts
Christians to examine themselves to make sure
they are Christians (2 Corinthians 135v). So did
the author of (Hebrews 61-9v). Salvation from
sin is by simple trust in Jesus Christ. Until you
are assured of your salvation you will be
    troubled by enormous doubts.
  • Faithfully study the Word of God. Faith comes by
hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans
1017v). Through study and application of the
Bible, our faith is strengthened and matured.
Most especially, we must master the doctrines or
basic teachings of the Bible if we are to be
    stable, mature Christians (1 Timothy 413v, 16v
    and 2 Timothy 316v, and Titus 21v, 10v).
  • Pray The surest way to face doubts when they
come is to have an extensive past history of
answered prayer. The more a Christian prays with
faith, the more that Christian sees God answer
prayer the more a person sees God answer prayer,
the stronger that persons faith becomes while
    the doubt becomes less.

23
Recognizing Gods Institutions 1-1
  • God gave humanity four basic institutions The
Family, Human Government, Israel, and the Church.
It may be observed that each of these
    institutions demonstrates a characteristic or
attribute of God. (Institutions, means a
    significant practice, relationship, or
organization in a society or culture).
  • Family (Genesis 224v and Deuteronomy 64v). The
family was the first human institution God
created. Through the family God illustrates
visibly the relationships which exist in the
Godhead and the relationship which exists between
Christ and His church. Through the family God
sought to bring into proper relationship the
world with Himself. He created all of the heavens
and earth and the things in them that they might
prepare the way for and sustain the crown of His
    creationhumanity.
  • Human Government Human government illustrates
the judgment of God (Romans 131, 2v). Gods
purpose in human government is that it serve as
both a custodian and an enforcer of His eternal
law. It has been correctly noted that all the
thousands of good and practical laws passed by
hundreds of legislative bodies and rulers
throughout history are in reality only
    amplifications of the Ten Commandments.

24
Recognizing Gods Institutions 1-2
  • Israel Israel illustrates the election of god
(Romans 91-8v 111-5v). Gods selection of
Israel as a special nation may puzzle the Bible
student, but His choice becomes obvious through
study. When God promised Abraham that he would
become the father of a great nation, He also
promised that He would bless all peoples through
that nation (Genesis 121-3). Israel was to be a
channel of blessing as well as a recipient.
(Recipient means one who functioning as a
    receiver).
  • Church The church illustrates the love of God
    (Ephesians 522-27v). The church, illustrating
Gods love for us, is the fourth institution
through which God works. The universal churchthe
Body of Christ (Colossians 118v)comprises all
believers since the institution of the church.
