Title: THIRTYSECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
1THIRTY-SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
2And in his teaching he said, "Beware of the
scribes,
3Who like to go about in long robes, and to have
salutations in the market places and the best
seats in the synagogues and the places of honor
at feasts,
4Who devour widows' houses and for a pretense make
long prayers. They will receive the greater
condemnation."
5And he sat down opposite the treasury, and
watched the multitude putting money into the
treasury. Many rich people put in large sums
6And a poor widow came, and put in two copper
coins, which make a penny.
7And he called his disciples to him, and said to
them, "Truly, I say to you,
8This poor widow has put in more than all those
who are contributing to the treasury.
9For they all contributed out of their abundance
but she out of her poverty has put in everything
she had, her whole living."
10- A Reading from the Gospel of Mark.
- In the course of his teaching Jesus said to the
crowds," Beware of the scribes, who like to go
around in long robes and accept greetings in the
marketplaces, seats of honor in synagogues, and
places of honor at banquets. They devour the
houses of widows and, as a pretext recite lengthy
prayers. They will receive a very severe
condemnation." - He sat down opposite the treasury and observed
how the crowd put money into the treasury. Many
rich people put in large sums. A poor widow also
came and put in two small coins worth a few
cents. Calling his disciples to himself, he said
to them," Amen, I say to you, this poor widow put
in more than all the other contributors to the
treasury. For they have all contributed from
their surplus wealth, but she, from her poverty,
has contributed all she had, her whole
livelihood.
