Title: KISS

KISS
Kommunikations Infrastruktur für multimedia
Streaming Services
2
Introduction
  • There is a problem in communication network
which has many user requirements to services.
    The problem is

( Receives Junk )
( Receives High Quality )
3
KISS is The Solution
To solve that problem, we can consider a good
solution so called KISS ( communication
infrastructure for streamingservices )
  • KISS takes the 128 kBit/s (CD Quality) and
reduces it to a 32 kBit/s (FM Quality)
  • This reduced quality stream data is sent to the
client in the low bandwidth network
  • This happens without the server or the client
    knowing it

--- HOW DOES IT WORKS ??? ---
4
Model Scenario
KISS consists of the following three parts
  • Network Access Point (NAP) NAP Organizes the
internal KISS network and constitutes an
    access point for end applications
  • Service Agent (SA) SA supplies additional
    content-independent services such as the
conversion of data formats (transcoding, etc) in
    the KISS context
  • KISS-API for communication with end application
    (EA) KISS-API constitutes the programming
    interface for EAs

SCENARIO STEP 1(due to the figure before)
  • No multimedia data have been transmitted yet

7
SCENARIO STEP 2
  • Server doesnt know who has requested its service

SCENARIO STEP 4

Architecture of KISS
  • The Connection between EA and NAP consists of
    - Bi-directional control link - Arbitrary
number of data link (usually uni-directional)
  • Control communication is integrated into the
    Client-Network- Interface (CNI), which also
    describes NAP localization

11
  • Behind an NAP, CNI is extended to the
    Network-Network- Interface (NNI), which adds
methods such as requesting and announcing
    service information

12
SA function
  • SA can adapt the data rate of multimedia stream
    to the clients bandwidth
  • SA can convert a multimedia stream from coding
format A to coding format B

SA Extension
  • Tunneling of Firewall
  • Interconnection of several KISS clouds
  • Synchronization of several streams
  • Mixing several multimedia streams to a single
    one
  • Forward Error Correction (FEC)
  • Unicast-Multicast Conversion
