Kristallnacht

glass. On this night on November 9-10, 1938,
there was an organized riot or pogrom planned to
destroy all Jewish shops, synagogues, and burn
books and valuables connected with the Jews. It
was called the night of broken glass because of
all the windows that were shattered filled the
streets. Many note this as the beginning of the
    Holocaust.

Juden
  • the German word for Jews. It was many times
spray painted on walls and signs were put up
    saying No Juden Allowed.

wanted to create. His idea was that the Aryan

everyone that they were Jewish. It was the
yellow Star of David sewn onto their clothing.

or clean of Jews. Hitler wanted to make the
world judenrein. He wanted all Jews gone.

during the reign of Adolf Hitler.

14
The Final Solution
  • A phrase that the Nazis used to refer to the
annihilation of the Jews in Europe. This term
sounded better than the alternative, so many
times, Hitler and his men used this phrase to
describe the horrible acts he had planned

15
Anti- Semitism
  • This word is used to describe peoples actions or
words or thoughts that are negative towards Jews.
People who are anti- Semitic have a strong hate
for Jews. It is a form of prejudice.

16
Here is an image that shows anti-Semitism.
17
prejudice
  • This is an unreasonable dislike for a group of
people or things over another. If you are
prejudice against something, you are usually not
being fair. People were prejudice against Jews
    and others during the Holocaust.

The Ku Klux Klan is a group that is usually
associated with prejudice. They do not like
people who are not part of their race.

liberation
  • If someone is liberated, you are helping them
escape from something, overcoming something to
lead to a better life. People who were in the
camps were praying or hoping for liberation.

23
People were happy when they were liberated from
the camps during the Holocaust.
24
death camps
  • A death camp is much like a concentration camp
except that people were put in these death camps
specifically to be killed. There were mass forms

camps like gassing, shooting and burning people
    to death.

the people who have attacked you. There were
Jewish resistance groups that formed to fight
    back against the Nazis.

27
This would be the type of poster would be
created by someone who was part of the resistance
or someone who was fighting against anti-Semitism.
28
tolerance
  • It is the idea that people can say or do as they
like, even if you dont agree with them or
